Summary :
Easterseals Northeast Indiana is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor as an independent contractor to lead and grow our inclusive, state-approved CNA training program. This position plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality classroom instruction, facilitating hands-on lab sessions, and supervising clinical experiences. The instructor will teach foundational nursing principles and patient care techniques while preparing students for the Indiana CNA certification exam and ensuring compliance with state regulations and agency standards. In addition to teaching, the CNA Instructor supports student success through mentorship, feedback, and individualized guidance, fostering a respectful, accessible, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills, as well as a commitment to professional ethics, accurate documentation, and continuous program improvement. Through this work, the instructor contributes to Easterseals Northeast Indiana’s mission of expanding access to education, employment, and meaningful opportunities for all.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Deliver engaging and effective instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings, following the state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) curriculum.Prepare students for the Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification exam, administered by the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training, and guided practice.Supervise and support students during clinical rotations, ensuring appropriate application of skills, adherence to safety protocols, and professional conduct.Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, progress, skill checklists, and clinical evaluations.Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Provide timely, constructive feedback and mentorship to help students build confidence and competence.Collaborate with program leadership to continuously evaluate and improve course content, instructionalstrategies, and training materials.
Comply with all recordkeeping, data confidentiality, and documentation procedures in accordance with agency policy and state / federal regulations.Model professionalism, ethical behavior, and respect in all instructional settings.Stay current on best practices in CNA education and nursing care through ongoing professional development.Adhere to the network Human Resources and EEO / AA policies.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements :
Must hold a current Indiana RN or LPN license in good standing.Must hold a valid driver’s license and carry auto insurance.Must meet all criminal and registry background check requirements.Must have a minimum of one (1) year of licensed nursing experience.Must have completed a course in teaching adults or hold a vocational teacher’s license (required by Indiana State Department of Health standards) or obtain within 60 days of offer.Must meet all instructor requirements established by the Indiana State Department of Health Nurse Aide Training Program.Must demonstrate schedule flexibility, including the ability to teach daytime, evening, weekend, and / or hybrid classes based on program and student needs, to support continuous enrollment and accommodate diverse student availability.Must be able to facilitate CNA cohorts on a recurring basis, with no more than two (2) weeks between sessions, to ensure consistent course availability.Must maintain professional liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 and list Easterseals as an additional insured party.Working Conditions :
May perform duties at multiple locations. CNA Instructor will work with moderate supervision, both independently and as part of a team. The role often requires managing several tasks simultaneously, frequently under time pressure. Work may involve moderate to heavy lifting and occasionally require extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT - May moderate lifting (up to 75 lbs.) as needed for skill demonstrations and clinical assistance.
