Job Summary

The Software Developer III codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs utilizing programming languages and an understanding of how data is related across multiple databases, tables, and platforms. This position communicates and collaborates with other Information Technology (IT) staff on application programming.

Essential Functions

Key Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities)

  • Performs advanced programming logic for new or existing solutions software or applications.
  • Plays a role in the development or maintenance of software and applications by working directly with the design team to understand the overall specifications and requirements needed within the end-product.
  • Possesses technical, professional, and regulatory knowledge to resolve medium to highly complex situations.
  • Performs widely varying and functionally diverse assignments that require in-depth analysis and problem solving.
  • Independently adapts and applies Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles into assigned work. Collaborates with senior-level developer positions on SDLC enhancements and independently engages in the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC).
  • Collaborates with vendors to understand technologies and provide input for potential solution innovations which can exploit the latest thinking in technology.
  • Researches and evaluates new and / or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Investigates and evaluates new features, software, and tools relative to specific area.
  • Handles the installation, configuration, development, workflow design, monitoring, and / or upgrade of assigned software products.
  • Actively participates in design reviews and development documentation. Makes recommendations for changes or updates for efficiencies or process improvements.
  • Performs unit, application, and system integration testing; debugs and resolves issues at the unit, application, and system integration level.
  • Understands and applies the concepts and implements the concepts of development regression testing.
  • Advises lower-level application development staff on development of test cases.
  • Independently analyzes and troubleshoots production system issues to resolution.
  • Provides guidance to lower-level application development staff members on resolution or production issues.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experiences as determined by HR
  • 5 years' experience in programming, software development, or related experience
  • Advanced problem solving and resolution skills
  • Intermediate level technical / professional knowledge and skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology

  • Office environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
  • Occasional travel for trainings or conferences as needed
