Ergon Associated Asphalt Partners, a subsidiary of Ergon Inc., is looking for a Dispatch Manager at our Tampa Causeway location. The Dispatch Supervisor provides an important leadership role in company facilities with transportation personnel and assets by promoting open communication, leading and developing personnel assigned to him or her and fostering the Ergon culture to all team members.
Interfaces :
This role will report to the Regional Fleet Manager and have responsibility for fostering an environment of safe, excellent performance and delivering exceptional customer service. This individual will interface regularly with employees and managers within the company, as well as external vendors, suppliers and agency representatives.
G eneral Responsibilities :
Selection, Development and Talent Position Management :
- Managing and guiding dispatchers and drivers in their daily tasks, ensuring they are following procedures and regulations.
Conduct annual formal personal performance evaluations for direct reports.
Conducting routine informal performance discussions.Ensure regional focus on serving business needs and meeting global transportation group objectives.Driver Staffing :Direct oversight in selection of new drivers.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and Ergon corporate policies for all drivers.Responsible for employee training for their regions, for all new hires and existing employees.Expectations :
The Dispatch Supervisor will have a clear connection and routine evaluation with their direct reports relative to customer service and corporate initiatives.Understand the market and customer needs in the regions their drivers operate and ensure we maintain the most professional, safe, courteous drivers to serve our customers.Spend 35% of their time at their partner location(s)Support Safety and Fleet Operations in developing best practices for the team.Ensure that a courteous and respectful work environment is always maintained with facility personnel and especially with customers.National Business Team Member :
Responsibilities :
Tracking the progress of deliveries using computer systems and communication channels to identify and resolve any issues for our customers / employees.Analyzing driver assignments, delivery times, and other data to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.Maintaining clear communication channels between dispatchers, drivers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.Expectations :

Responsibilities :
Ensure dispatchers and drivers adhere to all relevant DOT, state, local, and company regulations.Responsible for their employees supporting Transportation group's HSS goals and objectives.Responsible for driver files, qualifications, compliance and regulations at their locations.Responsible for ensuring daily mechanical inspections are performed and repairs completed by qualified person as is applicable DOT or other compliance.Expectations :
Successfully accomplish Regional and National HSS goals.Execution of Transportation group HSS strategies.Supports routine audits and checks on their teams by management.Zero infractions of HOS standards / regulations.Zero violations of distracted driving events.Operations / Asset Management :
Responsibilities :
Utilize company system, such as MTS / ELD / Cameras and Telematics systems for all areas of mechanical and compliance directed required service.Responsible for Drivers' standards for equipment in the areas of :Routine maintenance
Major maintenance / rebuildsReplacement strategiesResponsible in ensuring all leased agreements completed accurately at time of drop.Actively engaged with Terminal, sales and customers to ensure superior service from our driver fleet.Expectations :
Major assets maintained according to PM schedules.Zero customer failures (internal or external).Accomplishment of established objectives for Fleet Operations.Overseas Containers :
Responsibilities :
Work with sales team to ensure on time shipments of overseas containers to customers.Attend weekly meeting (thru teams call) for forecasted loads for the next week on shipments.Ensure all documents completed for shipment to ports of call and meet customs expectations for shipment.Work with several ports for delivery of overseas containers to meet sail dates of shipping lines.Ensure all returned overseas containers at ports of call, returned to in timely manner.Expectations :
Active participation in timely container management.Successful daily management of container operations.Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.3-5 years' experience in fleet dispatching leadership.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Solid computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office applications.Strategic thinking with strong attention to detail.Physical Requirements :
Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.Able to work inside or outside in varying temperatures and weather conditions as needed.Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving records.Must possess or be able to obtain Transport Worker Identification Card (TWIC), where applicableAble to travel on company business as needed; Anticipated travel is 10%.Ergon is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
