Professional Engineer Electrical

Paladin is seeking an enthusiastic Professional Engineer Electrical to support the building goals for our Owner partners. In this role you will independently perform detailed phases of design engineering work for a project of moderate size and complexity. Design and engineering will be for electrical power distribution, lighting, building life safety, emergency and UPS, security, paging and low voltage voice and data systems to assure safe reliable and energy efficient design. This requires the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria where the scope is to be defined based on existing conditions analysis and Owner-definition of project outcomes.
Candidates for this position are fully competent in all conventional aspects of design engineering and capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
This is a full-time remote position based out of our Lexington, KY office. This position requires up to 15% travel to Kentucky and you will be traveling to active building construction projects.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate regularly with members of the leadership team, commissioning team, and the digital technical services team
- Develop scope of work documents at the beginning of each project
- Develop design criteria and equipment selection in for preparation of construction documents
- Develop specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of complex projects, typically for existing building renovations and additions
- Select the materials, equipment and systems based on constructability and value to conform to company standards and project budget
- Review vendor bids and drawings for major components to be used in the system to assure compliance with specifications, code and requirements of the project
- Review drawings and evaluate the need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations
- Consult with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities
- Ensure that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
- May plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of other engineers who assist with particular projects
- Responsible for keeping current on new electrical products and must be able to judge their suitability for specific uses. Should compile and communicate with said product representatives on a regular basis
- Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to balance of the engineering team
- Maintain current knowledge of National electrical codes as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities
- Arc-flash studies
- File calculations in a complete and orderly manner for future reference
- Duties will be added, removed, or modified as necessary
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated experience in this disciplineMinimum of five (5-8) years of related experienceThree (3) years experience in the institutional and commercial building marketsProfessional Engineer License requiredExpert level knowledge of low voltage (120-480VAC), control voltage and data systems, and applicable codes, standards, and industry practicesBasic working knowledge of RevitA valid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to read and understand schematics and other technical diagrams and building plansAbility to pass background checks to work with correctional facilities and primary and secondary educational facilitiesHigh level of attention to detail to ensure accuracyAbility to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision while planning, scheduling, and completing tasks within established deadlinesPhysical Requirements
