Job Details

Purpose

As part of a new team, the Multimedia Producer creates engaging video, photo, and digital media content that enhances the university's storytelling, brand visibility, and audience engagement. This visual storyteller collaborates with various departments to produce compelling materials that highlight the university's mission, academic programs, research, campus life, and stories of students, faculty, and alumni that bring the UT community to life. By leveraging creative multimedia production expertise, this role is key in communicating the university's stories to diverse audiences.

General Notes

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Pre-Production :

Contribute from conception stage through pre-production including scripting, storyboarding, creating shot lists, location scouting, and updating the pre-production deck

Work closely with the assigned project manager / lead through all phases of each project to obtain client input, solve problems, and keep projects on schedule

Video Production :

Film and edit a variety of videos ranging from higher-end cinematic videos, news and documentary style stories to social media content

Shoot single and multi-camera productions in field and studio settings

Operate professional cameras, audio, and lighting equipment

Film planned or breaking news events on campus with time-sensitive coverage

Post-Production :

Edit single and multi-camera recorded video and audio segments into completed technically and aesthetically effective presentations

Perform complete post-production workflow : ingesting footage, incorporating feedback, adding graphics and motion graphics, basic sound mixing, and color grading

Utilize post-production software including Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects

Apply University of Texas brand guidelines and work with brand manager and design team for brand alignment

Archive completed projects and upload to digital asset management system

Collaboration :

Collaborate with other multimedia producers, editors, designers, animators, freelancers, and vendors on larger shoots

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, clients, talent, and team members throughout the production process

Meet regularly with supervisor and content strategists to discuss assignments and present ideas

Be receptive to feedback and direction from leadership

Operations :

Continuously look for opportunities to improve workflows and processes

Ensure proper operation of equipment and test all production and post-production related equipment

Stay up-to-date on latest technologies in filming, video editing, and distribution platforms

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.

Three years of professional experience with various forms of media, including filmmaking or videography, and video editing

Strong visual storytelling skill with ability to craft captivating narratives with visual language

Comprehensive understanding of the technical and creative aspects of the pre-production, production and post-production processes

Expert knowledge in a variety of production equipment including cameras, lenses, audio, lighting, and grip equipment

Ability to meet and juggle multiple deadlines at once

Proficient in lighting in all types of situations including interviews, portraits, and lifestyle

Advanced experience with Adobe Premiere Pro

Highly creative, organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Intermediate experience using Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

More than 3 years of professional experience with various forms of media.

Experience in a videographer, video producer, or editor role at an agency, production company, or in-house marketing department

Foundational understanding of the filmmaking process

Understanding of cinematography concepts and skills to use visual language to enhance the narrative and emotions

Experience producing short form documentaries

Demonstrated experience with multiple production formats, including vertical, square and an ability to learn and adapt to new trends, technologies and publishing specs

Experience with motion graphics animation in After Effects

Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator

Experience in Drone videography is a plus

Experience with color correction with Davinci Resolve is a plus

Experience in stills photography including in-field and studio photography is a plus

Familiarity with project management systems

Salary Range

68,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Must have access to reliable transportation

Must live in Austin area

Able to lift, roll or carry equipment

May work in all weather conditions

May work around electrical and mechanical hazards

May travel

May work extended hours during events

Nights and weekends may be required during peak periods

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
