Applications Engineer

Cook Compression is a brand within the Dover Precision Components portfolio, and with over 100 years of history in the Energy Resources industry, are renowned for pioneering technology developments and for the quality and reliability of their product range which includes reciprocating compressor valves, packing cases, pistons, rings, and wipers, supplying to both OEM's and the aftermarket. With established manufacturing sites globally, we are now seeking to recruit an experienced Applications Engineer to work at our flagship facility in Pearland, Houston.

As the Applications Engineer for aftermarket services and products in the US you will be responsible for bringing together the engineering and design content of projects & customer proposals, undertaking engineering calculations, expediting and processing engineering changes. You will have direct liaison with customers, including visiting on technical matters and generally for the development of solutions, services and products for projects. You will be responsible for interpreting the design requirements and specifications and developing those into an engineered solution. This role will include some travelling (up to 25% of time) to visit customer locations across the country.

WHAT YOULL BRING :

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years related work experience; 5+ years preferred
• Minimum 2 years previous experience with reciprocating equipment or equipment parts; 5 years preferred
• The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities :
• Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions Excellent problem-solving skills Demonstrated skill in quality and continuous improvement, minimum experience 2 years RCA, 5 years preferred. Formal training in CI and / or Quality preferred
• Demonstrates strong understanding of Engineering Principles and design practices.
• Experience creating project charters, roadmaps, project management, and CapEx is preferred
• Very strong communication skills Ability to interface with customers, sales staff, NPD, and manufacturing
• Familiarity with 3D CAD & strong computer skills
• Must be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function of a bearing and / or compressor
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills
