As an entry-level Telecom CAD Technician, you will create electronic design plans using CAD software while utilizing client provided high level project layouts in Google Earth KMZ files or other project scope documents as a baseline reference.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Prioritize tasks to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
- Drafting and design work for a variety of telecommunications projects, including fiber to the home (FTTH), middle mile, long haul, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), cellular backhaul, etc.
- Create / Modify technical drawings of telecommunications infrastructure, including underground conduit, overhead cabling, directional bore profiles, trench details, etc.
- Ability to track project construction quantities throughout design and compile summary tables, and creation of associated construction estimates.
- Permitting coordination with various agencies.
- Utility coordination with various municipalities, utility companies, and entities.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure that the drawings are correct and represent the design accurately
- Compiling and maintaining the entire plan set of technical drawings
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies :
Knowledge of Microstation OpenRoadsKnowledge of AutoCAD / Civil 3DManage project data files from various sourcesAbility to read and interpret construction drawings; ability to think 3-dimensionallyMust be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing prioritiesBe a professional, creative, team-focused individual that works well with others in a team environmentBe enthusiastic, dedicated, and self-disciplined to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentAssociate's degree or equivalent technical degreeKnowledge of Google Earth is a plus. While not required, a willingness to learn and use the tool is important, as training can be provided.Any experience with ESRI products or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset, though not a requirement for the role.Why would a candidate want this job?
