What You'll Do
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing the Residential Home Energy Squad (HES). The HES program and team delivers energy efficiency audits and installations to residential homes in Minnesota (7000+ visits annually). The Field Operations Manager is responsible for overall HES operations management; development of HES policies and protocols; field supervisor and field staff supervision, training, and development; homeowner issues management and resolution; and supplies and technologies management (inventory and warehouse; tools, equipment, and van management; and use of information technologies).
The Field Operations Manager supervises up to 8 direct reports (Field Supervisors) and oversees a team of 50+ total employees. This is a critical role for CEE and the residential Home Energy Squad ensuring management of the area, its employees, operations, and program implementation.
This is a management level position that reports to the Senior Program Manager.
Overall program management; development of HES policies and protocols
Implement residential strategic plan initiatives related to HES field operations
Manage operations with continuous improvement mindset; inform program strategy and improvements
Achieve staffing, financial and production goals
Understand and adhere to corporate policies and procedures, attend company-wide and program-specific trainings as requested or needed, and read corporate-wide emails and correspondence
Develop and refine program field guides, policies, and procedures; work with Senior Program Manager and Legal to ensure compliance with CEE safety & risk standards and protocols
Communicate and train field supervisors, and field staff, to understand and adhere to home visit and field safety processes, standards, and protocols
Ensure that crew schedules are optimized in partnership with schedulers
Ensure quality control in the field

Field supervisor and field staff supervision, training, and development
Help recruit and retain high-quality and diverse staff to field positions; this includes connection to workforce development efforts internally and externally

Understand professional challenges and interests of HES Field Staff by seeking regular input; utilize collaborative approach to engaging HES team and respond to, and develop improvements to, employee experience
Develop and empower Field Supervisors with skills and responsibilities to carry out effective supervision and program implementation
Develop, coordinate, maintain, and deliver high-quality trainings and curriculum to new staff, field supervisors, and field staff during onboarding and on an on-going basis
Lead staff through regular one on ones, performance reviews, tailored development plans, and skill-building. Facilitate regular team meetings and implement feedback loops to boost morale and retention.
Determine and communicate to staff the relevant work priorities and expectations for the role; evaluate and manage performance; determine interventions or corrective actions when needed.
Partner with HR to attract and select quality diverse candidates; onboard, train, and build connections with employees.
Homeowner issues management and resolution
Understand and evaluate homeowner issues as they arise after HES visits including plumbing, electrical and HVAC issues
Develop and implement effective response plan with homeowners
Work with Senior Program Manager on resolution approach to elevated / complicated homeowner issues
Ensure that customer complaint request responses are addressed in a timely manner
Manage and resolve field-level issues and claims, including homeowner complaints and incidents involving safety or compliance; escalate complex or high-risk matters to Legal as appropriate
Supplies and technologies management
Ensure that field supplies are stocked and purchased at a competitive price
Ensure warehouse, field vehicles, tools, and equipment are clean, organized, and maintained for optimal safety and performance
Communicate Field-related software systems issues and needed improvements to Senior Program Manager and IT staff
Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Skills & Knowledge We're Looking For
3+ years supervisory experience, preferably in field operations
Program or operations management experience
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Experience with development, training and implementation of guidelines, policies, and / or procedures
Experience developing and delivering trainings to staff on processes and best practices
Experience interacting with clients in person and by phone in high-stress situations
Ability to deliver a high level of customer service / resolution
Track record of understanding and ensuring staff engagement
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Must have basic computer and keyboard competency and show proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
Must have experience with Salesforce, a similar CRM or field software
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management experience
Experience with Building Science or a construction background
Compensation
Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the pay range upon hire for this position will be $85000-$90000.
