JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement in the manufacturing process of investment vacuum cast turbine components.
  • Identify and implement cost, lead-time, and quality improvements of new product and established product lines.
  • Develop and improve from a dimensional aspect to ensure integrity exceeding customer requirements.
  • This position frequently directs machine operators in processes, including answering questions, changing specifications, and approving methods to meet specifications and ensure the best product possible.
  • May be asked to interact with customers as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to develop and implement operations for quality control systems, and production process application.
  • Ability to analyze testing and inspection procedures and techniques to diagnose issues and implement solutions.
  • Ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct for improving quality control practices.
  • Good understanding of die and fixture design / modeling for production of investment patterns and finishing of components for equiax, directionally solidified, and single crystal castings.
  • Ability to train and coach employees when needed on Improvement methods and systems.
  • Disposition internal Discrepant Material Tags.
  • Assist in the processing of MRB and other customer submittals.
  • Respond quickly to technical & quality related questions from both employees & customers.
  • Assist with technical related issues for shipment of products and assist in streamlining part processing.
  • This includes schedule & lead-time, cost, outgoing quality.
  • Statistically analyze and understand all casting-related dimensional data (internal and external geometries) into useful summary reports.
  • Use data for continuous process improvements to maximize yields and cost reduction.
  • Thorough understanding of how Coordinate Measuring Machines, ultrasonic, dimensional gages, and structured light 3-D scanners are used to acquire dimensional data from castings.
  • Technical knowledge of process capabilities, gating, wax / metal shrink
  • Knowledge of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), advanced product quality planning items (APQP / PPAP)
  • Candidate must be able to develop and execute aggressive timeline schedules.
  • Check Daily MRB Review and Disposition, process as needed.
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ degree in an engineering / science field or equivalent education or experience
  • 2-7 years of quality systems experience in manufacturing environment.
  • 2-5 years of investment casting industry experience, preferably in an engineering capacity strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills involving statistical analysis tools.
  • Candidate must have fundamental understanding of quality principles, systems, methods, tools, standards
  • Candidate must be organized, be able to work independently or as a team and understand team dynamics, interpersonal relationships and possess professional ethics.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills to understand, respond to, and satisfy customer expectations. and satisfaction, training, improvement systems, Candidate must possess demonstrated communications skills (both technical writing and verbal).
  • Candidate must demonstrate a sense of urgency for timeliness in developing robust casting processes acceptable to customer requirements.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Candidate must be able to read blueprints and possess a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
  • CAD experience is a must. Unigraphics® or Solidworks® experience a plus.
  • DICUS Ballon Software experience a plus
  • Good interaction skills within a manufacturing environment.
