Oregon Imaging Centers, LLC (OIC) is currently seeking an experienced, compassionate, and enthusiastic Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our team.

The Insurance Authorization Specialist is a full-time position and would be responsible for verifying insurance benefits and eligibility in addition to obtaining authorizations for patient services. Discuss financial obligations, and payment options with the patient prior to the exam.

Educate patients on the exam process, supplying directions to our different locations and ensuring a positive, effective, and efficient experience for our patients.

Qualified candidate must be able to communicate effectively and provide quality customer service to the patient, provider, insurance company, and internal staff.

The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail, time management, multi-tasking, and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and the ability to prioritize, exercise excellent judgment, all while maintaining a high level of confidentiality is also required.

The Insurance Authorization Specialist requires the following :

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge with medical office procedures, medical chart note navigation, computerized reception and registration, and multi-line phone systems.
  • Experience with pre-authorization of complex imaging examinations.
  • Work experience should demonstrate familiarity with payers, medical terminology including ICD10, insurance authorization procedures and requirements.

Essential Functions include :

  • Review medical necessity for each patient activity and service, including radiological and specialty referrals for appropriateness. Determine if rescheduling appointment is necessary.
  • Obtain insurance authorization and pre-certification for services.
  • Work to prevent payment denials and delays through understanding of payment plans and contracts for patient services involving clinical.
  • Works as a patient advocate and functions as a liaison between the patient and payer to answer insurance related questions. Updates and disseminates all clinical supportive data to maximize reimbursement and avoid insurance delays. Research additional or alternative resources for non-covered services.
  • Provides clinical and financial information to patients to assist with insurance and payment coordination. Clarifies clinical policies, procedures, and medical records information to non-medical staff. Communicates with nursing and medical staff to inform them of any restrictions or special requirements in accordance with particular insurance plans.

    Pay : $19.70 - $30.00 per hour
