Controller opportunity- Accountant Bench exclusive

About the Opportunity

Accountant Bench has been retained by a rapidly growing energy infrastructure company to find their next Controller. This company develops, owns, and operates large-scale energy projects with long development cycles and multiple legal entities. They have a lean, entrepreneurial team and are building out their finance function to keep pace with substantial growth.

This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the finance leader, with direct interaction with executive leadership, private equity investors, and the board. Its a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, leading people, and managing complex, multi-entity accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, AP / AR, payroll, and project accounting across multiple entities.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Consolidate and analyze multi-entity financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements.
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Prepare and deliver board and investor presentations.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 57 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with multi-entity and project-based accounting experience.
  • Background in construction, development, or energy industries preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to executives, investors, and the board.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves approach with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary : $110,000-130,000 depending on experience.
