Position Details : EATSF is seeking an organized and dependable Stable Hand who is capable and open to fulfilling the needs of the therapeutic horse herd during the opening and / or closing activities of the facility. Stable Hand must be 18-years or older to fulfill the requirements of the position and must have horse experience.
Scope of Work : Perform routine care of the EATSF horses including feeding, turnout, cleaning of stables, paddock and feed / storage areas, keeping equipment and supplies organized and clean. The Stable Hand will provide excellent care to the horses and maintain the stable in a safe manner while maintaining PATH International standards for an equine based therapeutic program that serves children and adults with special needs.

Stable Hand Job Responsibilities :
- Follow checklist as directed for opening / closing protocol.
- Implement pre-determined feeding schedule.
- Ensure all horses have clean available water at all times in stable area and turn out areas.
- Check and secure all fly masks as needed.
- Oversee all injured horses, document progress and report to Barn Manager.
- Observe and report changes in horses regarding ingestion of grain, supplements, hay or water, elimination, injuries, and overall health immediately.
- Repair and / or recommend repairs as need in the horses environment.
- Maintain a daily schedule of one or more of the following (opening and closing shifts as detailed below, or as needed by the organization) :
6 : 30 a.m. – 11 : 30 a.m. (Opening Sunday)
4 : 00 p.m. – 10 : 00 p.m. Closing Shifts (Start time varies depending on class schedule; typically 1 hour prior to end of last class unless otherwise instructed)4 : 00 Sunday PM Closing ShiftEnsure barn is left clean, and free of debris.Ensure all people have left the premises and all stabling and gates on the premises are locked before leaving.Adhere to EATSF Code of Conduct.Duties should be completed in no more than a 5 hour period.Qualifications :
Ability to follow directions closely, attention to detail.Owned or worked with / around horses for a minimum of 1 year.Knowledge of horses and feeding.Flexible and able to adapt to change.Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather.Being flexible with scheduling and helping to cover other shifts, if needed.
