Position : Temporary Accountant - Reconciliation Specialist

Position Type : Contract - Approximately 2 months

Location : Denver, CO (Capitol Hill)

Salary : $30.00 / HR - $35.00 / HR

Schedule : Monday-Friday 8 : 30am- 12 : 30pm | In-office Part Time

About the Position : Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a highly skilled temporary Accountant with strong experience in account reconciliations to assist with a specialized project for one of our clients in Denver. This role will primarily focus on reconciling grant-related accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting who can take full ownership of the project, allowing the Controller to focus on other priorities. Job Responsibilities :

• Project Management : Manage the reconciliation project from start to finish, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest standard of accuracy, while communicating progress and findings to the Controller regularly
• Reconcile Accounts : Perform thorough reconciliations of various accounts, with a primary focus on grant-related financial statements to ensure all balances are accurate and up to date
• Identify and Analyze Discrepancies : Examine financial reports to identify any discrepancies or inconsistencies between existing financial statements and supporting documentation
• Propose Adjustments : Develop and propose necessary adjustments to correct any identified discrepancies, ensuring all financial records accurately reflect the organization's financial position. Submit proposed adjustments to the Controller for review and approval
• Grant Account Verification : Verify the accuracy of balances for approximately 60 active grants, ensuring that all grant-related transactions are properly recorded and reconciled in the financial statements
• Support the Controller : Assist the Controller by taking full ownership of the reconciliation project, allowing them to focus on other critical tasks. This includes continuing and completing work already initiated by the Controller to ensure grant accounts are accurately reconciled

Qualifications :

5+ years' experience with B.S. in accounting OR 10+ years' experience with no degree - Required

MS Excel software proficiency - Required

Strong reconciliation skillset - Required

Experience in fund accounting is a plus

Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
