Job Description

We’re looking to hire an energetic and outgoing host / hostess with outstanding customer service skills. You’ll need excellent communication skills to answer phone inquiries and make reservations. Your main duties include welcoming guests and guiding them to a table that has been cleared and cleaned.

You’ll ensure that there are enough seats for the entire party and check that each guest has tableware. Your attire should be professional and neat, with comfortable shoes so you can stand on your feet frequently throughout your shift. Responsibilities :

Welcome all diners with a friendly attitude to create an excellent first impression
Respond to questions about the menu and memorize the daily specials whenever needed
Guide diners to their seats and make sure everyone has the correct number of menus, utensils, napkins, and filled water glasses
Respond to phone inquiries professionally and secure reservations while ensuring all seating issues are quickly and efficiently handled
Assist with clearing plates off tables and getting tables ready for the next guests

Qualifications :

Skills needed for this role include excellent people skills, time management, organization skills, and the ability to handle customer requests and situations quickly with a pleasant demeanor

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent GED and a good command of the English language

Prior food services, or hospitality service industry experience is preferred but not required

Must be able to handle a fast-paced atmosphere with periods of standing on feet for an extended length of time

Our hotel is off I-55 and Highway 51, in Jackson's business district. A variety of shops and restaurants are within a half-mile, and we’re nine miles from downtown Jackson. The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum are less than 15 minutes away.
