Job Description

The Coder 2 is a mid-level coding professional who independently manages coding assignments for a diverse range of medical records, including inpatient and outpatient services. The Coder II is expected to interpret complex medical documentation, assign accurate codes for procedures and diagnoses, and ensure compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations. Additionally, this role involves working with CDI, physicians and other healthcare provider and participating in departmental training initiatives to foster knowledge transfer and maintain high coding standards.

Qualifications :

• Associate’s degree in health information technology or related field or 5 years coding experience; coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) required.
• With Associate’s degree, minimum of 2-3 years of experience in coding and familiarity with coding software.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve coding issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements :  Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting.  Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands / wrists / elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions . Maintain 20 / 40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift and / or carry objects weighing 20 lbs (+ / -) unassisted.  Lift from 36” to overhead 15 lbs.  Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined / cramped spaces.
