We are seeking an experienced and driven VPM to lead the operations of our veterinary specialty and emergency hospital. With a strategic plan to double in size within the next few years, this is a critical leadership role for someone ready to scale operations, develop high‑performing teams, and drive operational excellence in a complex, fast‑paced clinical environment.
This is not an entry‑level leadership role. The ideal candidate has risen through the ranks of veterinary hospital operations and has proven experience managing one large high‑volume hospital or overseeing multiple hospitals within a region. You will report to a supportive but hands‑off leadership team at headquarters, and you will be trusted to run the hospital independently while partnering closely with medical leadership and departmental teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations across all departments including ER, specialty services, client services, and administrative functions
- Lead, mentor, and develop department managers, supervisors, and support staff, ensuring accountability and team cohesion
- Partner with medical leadership to support a high‑performing, collaborative clinical environment
- Own the hospital P&L, driving revenue growth, cost management, and margin improvement
- Design and implement workflows and process improvements to support scalability as the hospital doubles in size
- Manage and optimize staffing models, scheduling, recruitment, and retention in alignment with hospital growth
- Lead expansion initiatives in partnership with facilities, finance, and HQ leadership
- Champion culture, employee engagement, and a client‑first mindset across all levels of the hospital
- Monitor KPIs (efficiency, throughput, client satisfaction, DVM utilization, etc.) and implement action plans for continuous improvement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HQ operations, finance, and HR—but operate with autonomy day‑to‑day
