Duties / Responsibilities :

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements
• Cuts openings for pipe in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
• Tests system for leaks using testing equipment
• Cleans and maintains pipe units and fittings and flush system
• Installs clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping system using hand and power tools
• Installs pipe systems on board vessels in a safe and productive manner
• Safely rigs equipment following all OSHA requirements
• Inspects work, identifies potential problems, initiates corrective actions
• Increases awareness of Quality procedures within department
• Ensures correct work procedures are adhered to
• Performs as a productive working team member that meets daily goals set by the supervisor
• Continuously improves communications and flexibility within the team
• Helps build the team environment
• Builds pride of workmanship and quality through on job training
• Contributes towards innovation / productivity improvements
• Assists in the control of waste elimination, e.g. materials, consumables, etc.
• Assists supervisor to maintain control of department equipment and its maintenance
• Works towards the team goal of delivering the vessel on time
• Ensures work area is left clean, all equipment and tools are stowed away safely and protected against damage
• Performs testing under limited supervision
• Must be willing to work with and train lower-skilled workers
• May be assigned tasks including outside the craft as required
• Complies with Austal's employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies
