Description of Primary Duties
Primary responsibilities include : a) maintain an active research program in biology education and / or another area of biology; b) teaching a combination of courses in science education (Middle School Natural Science, Internship in Teaching Secondary Science) and biology (preferred courses include Statistical Methods for Biologists, Ornithology, Biogeography) to total 9 contact hours per semester; c) advising undergraduate and graduate (Masters) students; and d) pursuit of external funding in support of research. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, university, and / or profession. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. Additional Qualifications Requirements include a or in an area of biology or science education, which must be completed before the time of appointment, peer-reviewed publications, experience with secondary or college teaching or teacher training, excellent communication skills, and strong support of MSUs commitment to student success, ethical leadership, cultural competence, and community engagement through its public affairs mission.
