JOB SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The Simulation Educationalist for the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation (CHIPS) provides curricular and assessment guidance for simulation educational activities related to the Program. This position works collaboratively with the leadership and staff of the Program along with faculty across the institution to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in all simulation activities.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assists faculty and community clinical partners to establish simulation-based educational curricula and courses based on current simulation standards and evidence-based practice.
• Designs develops writes edits and evaluates simulation case materials including educational needs assessment outcomes case content facilitation and SP / embedded participant guidelines and prebriefing / debriefing plans.
• Ensures all simulation experiences are appropriately designed documented implemented and evaluated.
• Consults with the Director of Education in the development of various metrics and assessment tools.
• Manages multiple concurrent educational projects regarding case design piloting and dry run / training implementation mentoring support and assessment of facilitators.
• Provides mentoring educational support services and resources for faculty / facilitators in the development of simulation-based educational projects across all disciplines.
• Works independently on highly complex simulation educational events.
• Directly supports and assists in the delivery of simulation experiences.
• Assists in the collection of educational assessment data and utilizes this data in post-event quality improvement discussions with sim facilitators.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION : Masters degree in a healthcare discipline or education related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE : Three (3) years of experience in an education or healthcare field with experiential learning implementation / simulation implementation; OR bachelors degree in education or healthcare-related field and five (5) years of experience in an education or healthcare field with experiential learning implementation / simulation implementation; OR a combination of education and experience to equal nine (9) years. (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and / or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

WORK SCHEDULE : This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
