In this role, the Registered Medical Assistant provides nursing care tailored to the needs of each patient, examinee, and client. Responsibilities include performing both dependent and independent nursing functions that align with recognized techniques, procedures, and standards within the scope of medical assisting, all under the direction of the Medical Director.

While our focus is on occupational health, we also consider the complete well-being of each individual, addressing their immediate and, when necessary, emergent needs within our practice scope.

This position is classified as Safety Sensitive, meaning job performance directly affects the safety of both the employee and others. An inability to safely perform essential tasks could create a safety risk, so adherence to all Federal and State regulations regarding drug use is required. Work Health Solutions will hire and manage this position with these safety requirements in mind.

Expected Hours of Work

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work during inclement weather and overtime may be required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the clinic. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 20 pounds. Ability to reach above shoulder height, at desk height, and below desk height.

Core Responsibilities

  • Patient Care : Apply nursing knowledge and skills to safely implement preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care for assigned patients and their families. Positive patient care outcomes are documented and observed.
  • Vital Signs & Medical History : Obtain and document vital signs and relevant medical history with precision and accuracy, ensuring no errors.
  • Clinical Testing : Perform and document results accurately for various clinical tests, including urine drug testing, breath alcohol testing, pulmonary function testing, respirator fit testing, vision screening, audiograms, urine dip tests, and blood draws.
  • Instrument Sterilization : Clean and sterilize surgical instruments using the Autoclave, following established procedures and protocols. Perform and log regular quality checks to ensure instrument sterility and safety.
  • Supply Management : Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies to support patient care.
  • Cleanliness & Hygiene : Maintain cleanliness of rooms, work areas, and bathrooms on a daily basis.
  • Team Collaboration : Work collaboratively with other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care, as evidenced by positive feedback from other departments.
  • Independent Nursing Functions : Perform delegated nursing functions independently, following established procedures, policies, and guidelines under the observation of the Medical Director.
  • Medication Administration : Administer medications accurately, monitoring patient responses and documenting them in the medical record to avoid adverse outcomes.
  • Effective Communication : Facilitate clear communication among patients, family members, staff, and physicians, as reflected in the medical record and feedback from clients and the healthcare team.
  • Patient & Family Communication : Ensure open, effective communication with patients and their significant others, as documented in the care plan.
  • Patient Education : Use appropriate teaching methods, including one-on-one and group instruction, demonstrations, and discussions to educate patients effectively.
  • Empathy & Confidentiality : Provide assistance to patients, families, and clients with compassion, maintaining confidentiality, respect, and courteous communication.
  • Call Management : Answer and refer telephone calls and inquiries promptly to ensure accurate and timely communication.

    Preferred Education and Experience

  • More than one year of experience in the field of medicine outside of school.
  • Experience in a clinic setting.
  • Experience in occupational medicine.
  • Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program.
  • Must have graduated from their academic programs within the past four years. Applicants whose date of graduation is four years or more prior to the date of their application must also provide evidence of relevant work experience for at least three of the last five years.
  • Valid registration as an RMA in the state of operation.
  • CPR / First Aid certified
  • Working knowledge of computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, email, faxing, scanning, etc.)
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid, up to date RMA license.
  • A valid state driver’s license.
  • Proof of up to date insurance for vehicle that is driven for company business.
