Job Title : Entry Level Land Survey Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a driven and hard-working individual with some experience as a surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will assist and collaborate with the survey party crew chief on diverse projects throughout South Carolina, including DOT, commercial, federal, government, industrial, power companies, and warehouses.
Responsibilities
- Locate, review, and research job locations to identify landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes affecting the survey.
- Supervise the survey crew's work, evaluate priorities, and coordinate and organize efforts.
- Ensure the accuracy of angles, distances, and other collected information, conforming to regulations and standards.
- Coordinate survey findings with engineering personnel, clients, and others involved in projects.
- Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to gather necessary data.
- Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches describing work performed.
- Complete daily logs and expense reports.
- Ensure all crew members follow safety procedures and complete necessary safety forms.
- Consult with computer operators and review the final production of work performed.
- Maintain familiarity with commonly used surveying terms and the use and care of survey tools and field equipment.
- Operate survey equipment such as the Total Station / Data Collector, Level, and GPS methods.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.0-1 years of surveying experience.Good technical skills, including process-oriented behavior, problem-solving, attention to detail, and a preference for structured work.Valid driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle record, and negative drug test result.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Surveying experience is a plus.Hard-working with excellent communication skills.Familiarity with data collection / Total Station, survey, land surveying, topography, and construction stakeout.Work Environment
The role requires some overnight travel and involves extensive walking outside throughout the year in various terrains and extreme weather conditions. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM, with potential overtime based on project demands. Surveyors typically work 50-60 hours per week. The technician will report daily to the Charleston office to collaborate with the surveying team and be assigned to specific projects. Approximately 50% travel is involved, and the technician must be willing to travel as needed. Physical requirements include the ability to work in environments with venomous snakes and insects, stand for long periods, endure a wide range of temperatures, climb hills, walk long distances, traverse different terrains, lift and carry up to 75 lbs, and interact both verbally and in writing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00 / hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charleston,SC.
