In accordance with a detailed cleaning plan, the Carpet and Floor Care Specialist performs general and specific cleaning and maintenance tasks to provide a clean, safe, and pleasant physical environment. They perform other tasks as assigned in emergency or unusual situations with specific guidance from the supervisor. Examples of additional work to be performed include, but are not limited to :

Work Interactions

This position reports directly to one of the Custodial Supervisors (one of four-night supervisors, one of three Residential Custodial Supervisors, an Evening Custodial Supervisor, a Day Custodial Supervisor, or a Weekend Custodial Supervisor). They may report indirectly to a Night Operations Manager depending on the shift assigned. The incumbent will work alone or with others and will perform essential or non-essential tasks as assigned by the supervisor. They will also perform assignments made by the Manager of Custodial Services and / or the Night Operations Manager. Under certain circumstances including but not limited to, emergency snow removal, spills, and flooding, the incumbent will perform assignments made by the Work Management Center, the Director of Facilities Management, the Resource Manager, the Infrastructure Manager, and other department managers. The Carpet and Floor Care Specialist's work constitutes a direct service of the department to ensure a comfortable, safe, and clean environment in which the University community can live, learn, and work.
