Work Hours : Monday Friday, 6 : 30 am 5 : 00 pm

Position Summary :

  • The Certified Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This role ensures that the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and procedures are carried out under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and the surgical technologist's role in performing these procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and its use in the surgical environment.
  • Perform duties of a surgical technologist before, during, and after surgical cases.
  • Assemble supplies, equipment, instruments, and all necessary items for scheduled procedures in accordance with physician preference cards.
  • Maintain and update instrument cards, tray lists, and surgeon preference cards regularly.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and understand responsibilities related to general safety, center / service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Follow the center exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and act according to policy.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Promote effective working relationships and teamwork across departments to support the centers goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization records, cleaning forms, logs, and other required documentation.
  • Operate and maintain all operating room instrumentation, video equipment, power equipment, lasers, smoke evacuators, microscopes, OR beds, sterilization equipment, and clinical equipment used for patient care (including suction equipment, stretchers, blanket and fluid warmers).
  • Use standard office equipment (computers, copiers, phones, PA system, fax machines) as needed.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    • Qualifications

    Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience / training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPR certification required
  • NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technician (or equivalent certification)
