Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring recent acute care and telemetry skills, as well as a WI or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery cases, heart and / or lung transplants, and use of various medical devices
  • Requires expertise with the NextStage CVVH machine
  • Shifts are 12 hours, with day (0700-1930) and night (1900-0730) rotations
  • Requires working every other weekend and some holidays
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations as needed
  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients following cardiac or thoracic surgery, as well as transplant cases
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet-designated, high-acuity environment
  • Orientation typically lasts about one week and is guided by department schedule
  • Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Strict holiday and weekend requirements apply per unit policy
  • Pass / fail testing for telemetry knowledge is required before assignment can begin
  • RTO (time off) requests will be reviewed by management, with limitations on consecutive weeks off
  • First-time travelers may be accepted

  • Active WI or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association are required
  • Minimum of two years acute care RN experience within the last three years in a CVICU or closely related specialty
  • Experience and proficiency with Epic EMR, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Proficiency with telemetry and basic arrhythmia recognition is required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, with strict scoring and retake conditions
  • Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
