BUMCP (Banner University Medical Center Phoenix) offers advanced care for structural heart disease, a field that focuses on non-atherosclerotic conditions like valve and wall defects of the heart, providing state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatments through its Cardiovascular Intervention Center. The hospital has a Structural Heart Disease Fellowship in collaboration with the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix, training leading physicians in this specialized area of cardiology. Vascular OR provides comprehensive vascular and endovascular surgical care for a range of conditions from varicose veins to complex aneurysms. These operating rooms are equipped for both minimally invasive catheter-based procedures and traditional open surgeries, utilizing current technologies and the expertise of surgical specialists. The RN Navigator assesses, addresses and prevents barriers to care throughout the complex healthcare continuum. This is an in-person role, with face-to-face conversations with TCAR / Vascular and / or Structural Heart providers and patients as needed. This role collaborates with numerous multidisciplinary teams both on and off campus. This is a highly collaborative and autonomous role, where great interpersonal and communication skills are of the utmost importance.

Ideal Candidate :

• BLS, certification required.
• Preferred qualifications : BSN or equivalent
• Experience :
• Specialty based Experience : Clinical knowledge regarding TCAR / Vascular and / or Structural Heart, knowledge of related CMS guidelines / registry requirements helpful
• General Experience : Navigation or complex care coordination / case management knowledge / experience preferred, clinic / ambulatory experience is helpful, ability to provide patient and medical staff education required, understanding of process improvement and development helpful, self-driven and professional.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work autonomously require.

This is a full time (40 hours / week), salaried, day shift position. The average day starts at 0800 and ends at 1600 and is Monday through Friday. With this role, hours are dependent on patient needs and can start earlier or later on occasion. We believe in a work-life balance and will adjust accordingly if the need arises.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma / GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations. Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use. BLS certification required. Active Medical Assistant certification such as : Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7 / 1 / 2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT). Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred. Additional related education and / or experience preferred.
