Assistant Controller – Manufacturing – Chesapeake – Pay to $135K + Bonus
Role and Responsibilities :
An international manufacturer is seeking an ASSISTANT CONTROLLER to join its corporate accounting and finance team.
Reporting to the director of finance; the Assistant Controller will lead an accounting team, take charge of month-end close through financial statements, perform financial analysis, support the development of budgets and forecasts, assist executive leaders with financial decisions, and participate in systems enhancements and employee training initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities Include :
- Manage, lead, and develop an accounting team responsible for daily accounting operations
- Lead month-end close to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financials
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger activity and financial statements
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances, including bank account reconciliation
- Investigate, recommend, and implement accounting system or procedural changes that provide more accurate financial data
- Prepare financials statements including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Create financial analysis and reports including monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and forecasts to provide insights on business performance and support decision-making processes
- Daily and monthly cashflow management and forecasts
- Manage fixed asset and the lease process, policies, and procedures
- Assist in tax provisions and tax compliance
- Manage sales tax policies and procedures including filing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns
- Assist with reviews and audits conducted by both external and internal auditing agencies
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justifications
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects with goal of continuous improvements
Qualifications and Education Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with master’s degree preferredCPA or CMA, or defined path to earning certification6+ years of progressive accounting experience in a mid-to-large sized company3+ years of leadership experience, with direct reports or as a lead for an accounting teamExpert GAAP knowledge with a focus on complianceExceptional computer skills including experience with ERPs and financial reporting tools, as well as expert ability with Microsoft ExcelHigh level of integrity, honesty, and work ethic; with strong attention to detail and ability to produce financial reports with minimal errorsAbility and desire to work in a fast-paced, team-centered, and deadline driven environment while meeting multiple and competing deadlinesStrong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracyManufacturing industry and / or international company experience is a plusApply today or call me directly, Barbara Field, President, Finance & Accounting, 757-477-4957.
