Position Overview

We are seeking a Concrete Construction – Entry-Level Estimator-Bid Coordinator to support our commercial division. This role will assist with all phases of the bid process—from evaluating project documents and performing takeoffs to coordinating subcontractor quotes and preparing proposal packages. It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual looking to grow into a full estimator role.

You will play a key role in positioning Doggett to win projects in sectors such as multifamily, hospitality, religious, healthcare, and light industrial construction across North and South Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Takeoffs

Assist in reviewing construction drawings and specifications to understand project scope

Perform basic quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and related materials using tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or Excel

Support pricing efforts using internal data, subcontractor / vendor input, and historical cost information

Participate in pre-bid site visits when needed to learn about project conditions

Help prepare accurate and competitive estimates under guidance from senior estimators

Bid Process Coordination

Assist in managing incoming bid invitations and maintaining a bid calendar

Help prepare bid packages, including quotes, pricing sheets, forms, and certifications

Ensure all bids are submitted accurately and on time with support from the team

Track submitted bids, results, follow-ups, and client feedback

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination

Support identifying and prequalifying subcontractors and suppliers

Assist in soliciting and reviewing quotes for accuracy and competitiveness

Maintain professional communication with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractors

Team Collaboration

Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate and complete estimates

Support smooth handoff from estimating to operations after project award

Maintain clear documentation of assumptions, quantities, and scope details

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience (0–2 years)

Basic ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Familiarity with concrete construction terminology and methods

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Willingness to learn estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or AutoCAD

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Professional, team-oriented attitude and eagerness to learn

Preferred Skills

Internship or coursework related to estimating or construction project coordination

Familiarity with bid platforms such as Procore or BuildingConnected
