About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) to join their team. The CUO will be a key leader in the business, responsible for the strategic planning and management of the underwriting discipline to ensure profitable growth. This role involves developing and executing the company's underwriting strategy, establishing underwriting authority levels, and developing pricing and underwriting strategies. The CUO will also be tasked with managing the underwriting portfolio, devising strategies for profitable growth, and leading the underwriting team with a focus on talent management and superior portfolio management.
Applicants for the CUO position should ideally have a BA / BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience, including products, casualty, and professional liability. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of providing strategic and tactical leadership, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and persuade. The role requires a leader who is agile, decisive, and adept at problem-solving, with the capacity to collaborate and foster innovation. The CUO will also be responsible for maintaining relationships, both internal and external, and must be prepared to travel up to 20% of the time if necessary.
