Vice President, Cloud And Infrastructure Engineering
The Vice President, Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering will lead the modernization, optimization, and ongoing operation of Family Dollar's technology infrastructure, with a focus on cloud strategy, data center transformation, network architecture, and end-user compute. This role is critical to building a scalable, secure, and resilient technology foundation to support Family Dollar's rapid evolution as a standalone company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a hybrid cloud strategy that aligns with business growth and digital transformation goals.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, etc.), data center operations, storage, compute, and virtualization platforms.
- Establish and implement standards for infrastructure automation, observability, and disaster recovery.
Engineering Leadership
Lead a team of infrastructure, cloud, and network engineers, fostering a culture of performance, innovation, and accountability.Build a scalable, service-oriented infrastructure team to support Family Dollar's 7,000+ stores, distribution centers, and corporate systems.Design enterprise-class infrastructure that ensures high availability, reliability, and performance.Security, Resilience & Compliance
Partner with Information Security to embed security-by-design across all cloud and infrastructure layers.Ensure infrastructure meets compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including PCI-DSS and SOX.Implement robust backup, failover, and business continuity strategies.Network & End-User Computing
Own the performance, security, and evolution of the company's enterprise-wide network infrastructure, including WAN / LAN, VPN, and SD-WAN.Oversee enterprise collaboration and end-user technologies including desktop, mobile, and productivity platforms.Vendor & Cost Management
Manage infrastructure and cloud service providers, contract negotiations, service delivery, and SLAs.Drive cost optimization initiatives and capital planning for infrastructure investments.Transformation & Operations
Lead the migration of workloads from on-premise to cloud environments where appropriate.Streamline IT operations with modern DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.Support ongoing merger separation, application modernization, and infrastructure stand-up efforts post-divestiture.Qualifications
12+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing cloud and infrastructure engineering.Proven track record of successfully leading cloud migrations and hybrid infrastructure models at scale.Deep technical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization, containerization, and automation (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).Experience designing secure, scalable networks and enterprise compute environments.Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements.Retail, distribution, or high-transaction volume environment experience preferred.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.Strong leadership, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
