PICU Travel Nurse Job Details

Location : Portland, Oregon (97239) – Oregon nursing jobs

Facility : Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital

Unit : 8N PICU – 20 beds

Contract Length : 13 weeks (Start : 10 / 28 / 2025 – End : 1 / 27 / 2026)

Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (W2)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2200-$2360

Patient Ratios : 1 : 1 or 1 : 2

Weekend Coverage : Required

Floating : Yes, to NICU and Pediatric Units

Charting : EPIC EMR

Scrubs : Provided for OR

PICU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVICU nursing experience, including post-operative heart care

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Oregon or compact state (pending license accepted with application submitted)

BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred

Proficiency with Epic charting system

Professional references required

First-time travel nurses accepted with required experience

Ability to float to NICU and Pediatric Units

No background or license issues accepted

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients

Perform bedside procedures : central line and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation / extubation, CRRT initiation / discontinuation, ECMO cannulation / decannulation, chest exploration, and emergent operative procedures

Utilize advanced medical equipment : Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, Baxter Prismaflex Machines

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and social workers

Float to NICU and other pediatric units as needed

Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR

Complete orientation and required training modules prior to start
