Position Summary : Cultural / Academic

Elective Instructor to provide instruction in a variety of cultural or

academic elective topics not limited to, but inclusive of the following

topics : Robotics, Coding, Engineering,

Drama, Creative Writing, Current Events, Psychology, Sociology, Debate,

Communications, Etiquette, Art, Dance, Chess, Karate, Yoga, Mentoring, etc. Will hire

individual candidates for each subject, or a candidate qualified to teach

multiple subjects.

Essential Functions :

• Ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
• Conduct an integrated Elective class on various topics, ranging from but not limited to : Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Drama,
• Creative Writing, Current Events, Psychology, Sociology, Debate, Communications, Etiquette, Art, Dance, Chess, Karate, Yoga, Mentoring, etc.
• Teach students learning strategies.
• Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids, and prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
• Assist with the planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving activities.
• Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
• Make recommendations on students' strength and needs.
• Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
• Assist with the training and

evaluation of Teacher Assistants.

Salary Information :

In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $40.00-$50.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items.
