Health Unit Driver
The Health Unit Driver supports the operational needs of the FLETC Health Services Unit by providing safe, timely, and professional transportation services. This role ensures the efficient movement of personnel, medical supplies, and documentation between FLETC sites and designated locations, while maintaining compliance with federal safety and privacy standards. There will be one Health Unit Driver assigned to each FLETC site : Artesia, Charleston, and Glynco.
Essential Job Functions :
- Transport medical personnel, patients (non-emergency), supplies, and documentation between FLETC facilities and approved destinations
- Ensure vehicle safety, cleanliness, and readiness for daily operations
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance needs
- Assist with loading and unloading medical equipment and supplies as needed
- Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and FLETC transportation policies
- Maintain confidentiality of any health-related information encountered during transport
- Coordinate with Health Unit staff to support logistical needs during training schedules and special events
- Report any incidents, delays, or vehicle issues promptly to the PM or designated supervisor
Necessary Skills and Knowledge :
Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standardsAbility to lift and transport medical supplies and equipment safelyStrong communication and interpersonal skillsMinimum Qualifications :
Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving recordProfessional driving experience, preferably in a healthcare or government settingDHS requires BLS certificationMust have a Public Trust clearancePreferred Qualifications :
