JOB SUMMARY :
The Project Engineer is a production-facing position, focusing on internal collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure timely delivery of projects to customers, design integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with standards and specifications. The ideal candidate thrives in a technical, team-oriented environment and demonstrates strong problem-solving, project management, and collaboration skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborate with CAD technicians to develop and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation for modular steel structures, concrete and related products.
- Collaborate closely with product engineer and production teams to translate product concepts into manufacturable designs, while ensuring efficiency, scalability and cost effectiveness.
- Participate in new product development initiatives by contributing engineering insight during the design, prototyping, and testing phases.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes, safety standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Support the standardization of design materials and components across product families to balance factors like performance, cost, and availability.
- Analyze and resolve design issues, material selection, and fabrication constraints using sound engineering principles.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to address product defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability.
- Assist in the review and continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices.
- Work with BOMs (Bill of Materials) and support ERP integration for engineering deliverables.
- Participate in internal design reviews and provide timely engineering support to production when required.
QUALIFICATIONS : Work Experience :
- 2+ years of experience in a mechanical, electrical, civil / structural, or product engineering role, preferably in modular construction, steel structures, or industrial fabrication environments.
- Familiar with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar).
- Ability to review and edit drawings a plus
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as electrical, HVAC, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and / or assembly.
- Experience with drawing standards, GD&T, and revision control.
Education :
Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil / Structural Engineering, Technology degree or a related technical field is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
