Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting transactions, and supporting the monthly close process. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.

Prepare and post journal entries with proper documentation and approvals

Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly

Assist in month-end and year-end close processes

Analyze financial statements for accuracy and compliance

Support internal and external audits by preparing the required documentation

Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. File PPT returns at year-end

Assist in the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes. Work with consultants to edit / create necessary reports and system upgrades.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting

File required payroll taxes (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) Respond and resolve tax notices

Year-end filings including W-2's, 1099's, ACA Reporting, etc.

Prepare workpapers for CPA annual tax returns

Maintain multi-state records, filings, etc.

Support monthly customer billing activities

Other duties that impact the accounting team

CPA or working toward CPA certification

Experience in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, tech, services]

Knowledge of internal controls

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00 / yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Sterling Heights,MI.
