TITLE : Systems Change Advocate

CLASSIFICATION : Full Time Exempt

Turning Point, Inc in Mount Clemens, MI is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Turning Point, Inc empowers survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking through comprehensive services and resources while advocating for community action to end oppression and violence. We offer emergency shelter, housing, advocacy / counseling, forensic nurse examiner program & first response advocacy services, 24-hour hotline, personal protection order assistance and legal advocacy, community education, and systems change.
POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Systems Change Advocate is responsible for developing, facilitating, and implementing systems change advocacy within Macomb and St. Clair counties. This will include planning, coordinating, and facilitating the Macomb and St. Clair County Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) and the Macomb County Domestic Violence Lethality Team. The Systems Change Advocate will serve as an integral member of the Turning Point systems change team and facilitate collaborative relationships with law enforcement, the prosecutor’s office, health care, the crime lab, and other community-based organizations to encourage and support more effective, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed responses to domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position has no supervision responsibilities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE :
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and advocacy-based interventions with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking that are rooted in empowerment and anti-oppressive values. Specific knowledge in systems advocacy and coordinated community responses and models is desired, as is demonstrated success in developing partnerships with community systems, meeting facilitation, presenting training, and solving problems. Candidates must also have knowledge of advocacy with survivors in various systems, including healthcare, criminal justice, family court, child welfare, education, and human services. The ideal candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, criminal justice, or related field or 2-4 years of equivalent experience required.
