Job Summary
The Senior Field Engineer supports and manages operations in the field and provides accurate information to project controls of the work activities accomplished in the field. He or she assists superintendents and foremen in building the work accurately based on drawings and specifications and reports to the project engineer. A successful field engineer will need to interface between craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and members of the project team. Travel Required.
Essential Functions
- Participate in the Estimate Turnover Meeting
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Assist in converting the estimate to a controlled budget and set up job files
- Coordinate and review submittals
- Attend and participate in daily and weekly safety meetings
- Manage quantities and perform quantity takeoffs, as required
- Procure and schedule subcontractors and materials to ensure crews' needs are met
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers with the support of staff, superintendents, and foremen
- Assist in work plan development and monitoring with project engineer, superintendents, and foremen
- Manage quantity and cost reporting as accurately as possible, report results to superintendents and foremen
- Assist with change order pricing
- Participate in the project document control process
- Assist in documentation between ZCC and owner, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Maintain accurate record set of project drawings and specifications
- Participate in the project close-out process
- Finalize cost report quantities used for payment applications and project reports
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of As-Built drawings
- Miscellaneous / Other duties, as required

Required Skills & Experience
Must be able to obtain airport security clearance3-5 years’ recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience (prefer a prior internship with a heavy civil contractor)Medium to large project experience ($10M+) is requiredExperience in supporting multiple disciplines related to heavy civil projectsExperience with Hard Dollar and SAP systems preferredBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferredAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsWork independently as well as part of a teamStrong leadership skillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-orientedStrong working knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Excel and WordStrong verbal and written communication skillsTravel Required
