Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our renewable energy team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for structural design of foundations and ancillary structures for utility scale wind, solar, transmission line, and substation projects.
- Prepares or directs the structural design reports, specifications, and plans.
- Review and approves project submittals, RFIs and supports field activities during construction.
- Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects.
- Day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering from an ABET accredited college.EIT / FE or PE required, . registration a plus.Minimum 2 years of structural engineering work experience required.Familiar with applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318).Knowledge of shallow and deep foundations, including spread footings, slab-on-grade, piles and concrete caissons. Knowledge of connection and anchorage design such as cast-in-place, post installed, welds and high-strength bolts.Familiar with steel member design, including wide flange, channel, pipe, plate, and angle sections.Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, a must.Proficient with structural engineering software, such as Mathcad, STAAD, RISA, Enercalc, and LPile a plus.Knowledge of bridge design and evaluation is a plus.Background in geotechnical engineering, solar and wind energy, transmission and distribution, and substations a plus.AutoCAD drafting experience is a plus.Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others’ work.Ability to use sound engineering judgment.Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention to details.Minimal travel possible.
