Responsibilities
Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Milieu Manager-2nd Shift.
Under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor, the Milieu Manager is responsible for managing the milieu staff and promoting a positive work environment. The Milieu Manager also takes responsibility for training and supporting unit staff to ensure the treatment spaces are safe, secure, and therapeutic.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
- Participates in the patient intake process as needed to reduce the level of anxiety the patient may experience as they are being admitted to the unit.
- Assigns tasks related to the admission and intake process to the milieu staff, as appropriate.
- Models’ professional behavior and standards of care to staff as a teacher, trainer, and coach when on the unit(s) or when in ratio.
- Provides ongoing feedback and coaching to MHT’s and Lead Technicians to ensure consistent application of policy, procedure, and unit schedules.
- Assists with the training and orientation of new unit staff to build rapport and engagement, reinforcing the importance to teamwork and collaboration.
- Responsible to observe competence as it relates to new hires during the onboarding process.
- Monitors the milieu to ensure safety of patients and staff. of the physical environment throughout the unit to ensure infection control standards are being met, reporting any concerns.
- Assist with patient groups and activities as needed and required.
- Participates in treatment team meetings as needed to ensure a safe, therapeutic, and engaging environment.
- Documents and communicates unusual or erratic changes in patients' behaviors and / or condition.
- Regularly conducts “code drills” and safety rounds to ensure staff competence and submits summary report to the DON and / or EOC.
- Supports the patient discharge process and assigns duties to milieu staff, as necessary.
- On occasion, may be required to work up to hour shifts due to critical staffing needs of the hospital.
- Conducts MHT interviews and makes recommendations for hire.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements :
High School Diploma and 1-2 years of applicable work experience required.A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years of applicable experience preferred.Previous supervisory experience preferred.Ability to work rotating weekends is required.Valid CRR Certification and Handle With Care or the ability to obtain within days of hire.
