Property Accountant Opportunity

This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records for properties, ensuring seamless operations from an accounting perspective. You'll manage the full accounting cycle for a diverse portfolio of properties, including inter-company and multi-family accounts, and work closely with portfolio managers to resolve property and tenant-specific matters.

What You'll Do :
- Manage property financials : Take ownership of property records within our accounting system. Ensure new tenants, property acquisitions / dispositions, lease amendments, and renewals are accurately and timely reflected.
- Prepare financial reports : Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate financial statements and various accounting reports. This includes making precise journal entries and reconciling figures.
- Reconcile accounts : Perform thorough bank reconciliations for multiple properties, inter-company accounts, and multi-family units.
- Analyze and resolve : Review expenses, invoices, and other accounting documents. Research and resolve discrepancies to ensure correct coding of revenues and expenses.
- Control procedures : Maintain and coordinate accounting control procedures by analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and recommending budget levels.
- Support audits & forecasts : Act as a key liaison for tenant auditors, explaining financial transactions and providing necessary data. Assist with operating expense reconciliations, NNN reconciliation review, and prepare entries to tenant ledgers.
- Cash flow management : Prepare and analyze cash flow forecasts (revenue, expenses, cash walk forward) for existing properties, management companies, and potential acquisitions.
- Collaborate & communicate : Work closely with on-site personnel and property managers, providing support and ensuring timely completion of accounting processes for client and company reporting.
- Strategic insights : Collaborate with management to provide in-depth financial performance analysis for projects, aiding in strategic decision-making.
- Tenant relations : Address tenant inquiries related to financial matters, providing excellent customer service.
- Cost savings : Conduct regular expense reviews to identify and propose opportunities for cost savings.
What You'll Bring :
Experience : 3-5 years of property management accounting experience, specifically with multiple properties. Prior experience with operating expense reconciliations is strongly preferred.Full cycle accounting : Proven experience with full-cycle month-end close for multiple entities, including balance sheet reconciliations.Technical proficiency :Proficient in YardiStrong Excel skills (essential)Proficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAccounting knowledge : Solid understanding of basic accounting standards and a strong general ledger background. General understanding of commercial lease language is required.Analytical prowess : Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to approach problems both logically and creatively.Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly to various stakeholders (owners, managers, staff, auditors, tenants).Time management : Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to meet deadlines effectively.Adaptability : Ability to research and resolve issues, propose value-engineered solutions, and adapt to new processes and solutions.Team player : Tenant-focused with excellent customer service skills. Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced, small business environment where wearing multiple hats is common.Education : A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.Work Environment :
This role is based in a corporate office setting, requiring the ability to operate standard office equipment and software. Occasional flexibility to work beyond typical hours may be required to meet critical deadlines.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 Per Year
