Overview

DePaul's WorkGuide Program offers a wide range of pre-employment and employment services to Monroe County residents who qualify for Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR). The Vocational Rehab Evaluator will provide pre-employment, potentially eligible, and placement services to adults and students referred through ACCES-VR as well as through Community Providers and / or School Districts. The Vocational Rehab Evaluators will provide vocational assessments, facilitate classes, and develop community-based work experiences to further assess customers' work readiness while identifying accommodations prior to seeking competitive employment. Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Career Counseling, or a related field, will be well-organized, resourceful, and committed to helping individuals achieve meaningful employment outcomes. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficiency in computer use are required. A flexible work schedule is required to provide coaching support during interviews and / or on-site job coaching at worksites if / when customers' work schedules are outside of WorkGuide office hours. Vocational Rehab Evaluators must have previous experience providing vocational rehabilitation services funded through ACCES-VR, Office of Mental Health, OPWDD, Commission for the Blind, or other County / State Vocational Rehabilitation Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Respects and maintains customer's rights and confidentiality and demonstrates a positive caring attitude toward all consumers, staff, guests and service providers.
  • Provide oversight of ACCES-VR funded Core Rehabilitation Services.
  • Provide Community outreach and market vocational programs to referral agents.
  • Conduct vocational assessments; prepare and present comprehensive assessment with recommendations to participants and their stakeholders.
  • Provide one-to-one vocational counseling and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Facilitate vocational classes.
  • Provide development for unpaid work experience & / or competitive job placements.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to assess progress, identify accommodations, and meet regulatory criteria.
  • Job coaching as necessary to maximize the success of unpaid work experience & / or job placements.
  • Responsible for tracking and submitting billing and ACCES-VR milestone reports and monthly reports.
  • Must develop good working relationships with all stakeholders including but not limited to ACCES-VR, Community Businesses, High School Personnel, family members, therapists, Medicaid Service Coordinators, Case Manager, etc.
  • Must adhere to WorkGuide procedures and regulations.
  • Role model professional workplace behaviors, professional boundaries, and code of conduct in the office and community settings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor to meet fluctuating referral and program needs.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Career Counseling or related field and two years of experience conducting vocational assessment & / or vocational rehabilitation services, or a combination of education and experience approved by ACCES-VR prior to final job offer.
  • Experience working with adults and / or youth with disabilities including but not limited to DD, LD, CD, MH, blind / low vision, and / or deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Previous experience should include conducting vocational assessment services, job coaching, and / or developing work experience / internships / job placements with community-based employers.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • ASL is a plus but is not required.
  • Must be well organized and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn / utilize required technology (Microsoft, Outlook, TEAMS, Zoom, AWARDS, ADP / DOCEBO, Smartlinx, etc.)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule around program needs and customers' employment needs.
  • Must have a current, clean / valid NYS driver's license that meets the agency's clean driving record policy.
  • Must have reliable transportation and vehicle to perform job duties.
