Position Overview :

The Fundamental Physics Directorate (FPD) has an intern employment opportunity available for a Student / Recent Graduate who is interested in quantum information science experiments using spin qubits seeking to gain paid research experience.

Example projects and responsibilities include (but are not limited) to the following :

• Assist with assembly of cryostat and commissioning of small-scale experiments
• Qubit characterization and data taking
• CAD design of components for warm and cryogenic systems
• Modification of electronic components
• Script development using Python
• Testing of electronics and associated software platforms

Other duties may also be assigned.

Opportunities and Benefits :

Note : This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible temporary-nonexempt, internship position (work at 50% full-time equivalent or more), not to exceed 980 hours in six consecutive months. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated and have US work authorization. All accepted candidates must have or be able to timely acquire US work authorization.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.20 to $29.15 per hour. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory / Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
