Job Description

The Patient Care Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Patient Care Technician's primary function is to assist and support the Professional Registered Nurse in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities. The Patient Care Technician functions as a member of the unit staff under the direction and supervision of the professional Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities :

• Direct Patient Care Activities

Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge process.

Maintains a safe and clean environment. Duties may include : maintaining temperature logs on, defrosting, and cleaning refrigerator, straightening linen, cleaning utility rooms, cleaning IV poles, cleaning scale, cleaning and returning equipment to SPD, replacing and disposing of soiled linen bags.

Required :

Physical demands required for this role include lift / carry up to 50 pounds and a push / pull force up to 50 pounds
