Job Summary :
The Subcontractor Procurement Specialist is responsible for proactively identifying, vetting, and managing subcontractor relationships across multiple regions and markets. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a strong network of qualified subcontractors is available to support project needs, while also maintaining compliance with company processes and documentation requirements. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a proactive approach to relationship-building and procurement management.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Proactively research, identify, and establish relationships with subcontractors in various regions / markets to expand the company’s network of qualified partners.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of subcontractors, including capabilities, coverage areas, and past performance.
- Conduct initial outreach and ongoing engagement to ensure subcontractors align with company standards and expectations.
- Ensure all subcontractors have reviewed, completed, and signed the company’s Subcontractor Agreement and any necessary compliance documentation before engaging in projects.
- Maintain records of subcontractor agreements and ensure updates are completed as needed.
- Verify subcontractor credentials, including licenses, insurance, and certifications, to ensure compliance with project and company requirements.
- Develop and maintain checklists and responsibility matrices for each project opportunity to streamline subcontractor engagement.
- Work closely with the estimating team to determine when a subcontractor is needed for a project.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure the right subcontractor resources are allocated efficiently.
- Prepare and distribute RFP packages to qualified subcontractors, ensuring clear communication of project scope, requirements, and deadlines.
- Track and manage responses, ensuring timely submission of pricing and necessary documentation.
- Conduct high-level bid leveling to compare subcontractor proposals and ensure pricing is accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.
- Ensure all procurement activities follow company policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain consistency and compliance.
- Support the pre-construction team by facilitating subcontractor selection and engagement for projects requiring subcontracted work.
- Continuously refine and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Follow Company guidelines on preferred selection of vendors and products. Work with the Director & VP of Pre-Con, VP of Sales and Sales Directors to obtain best solution, most competitive price and proper lead-time on materials.
- Ensure that all work meets the customer and Company quality and safety level at all times.
- Perform project post-mortems to evaluate fade and gain on closed projects.
- Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements according to the Company’s training guidelines. Learn new technologies and provide training to staff.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.Must be able to travel nationally.Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree : Engineering, Construction Management or Accounting Degree preferred.Must have at least two (2) years of experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications / special systems or a related technical or construction field.Experience with bid leveling, contract management, and RFP processes.Understanding of construction industry standards, subcontractor agreements, and compliance requirements.RCDD, CTS-D, RTPM or other design management certifications highly favored.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).BlueBeam Revu experience favoredMust be familiar with and able to effectively utilize a project-based accounting software package.Must meet Company minimum driving standards.Minimum Years of Experience
