Overview

We are seeking a gentle, dedicated, and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using EMR systems, including Open Dental.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories from patients.
  • Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed, including handling medical records and documentation.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
  • Stay updated on advancements in dental technology, including 3D scanners and medical imaging.

Skills

  • Proficient in dental terminology and procedures related to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and chairside assisting.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, infection control practices, medical coding, and medical terminology is essential.
  • Experience / Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open Dental, Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
  • Ability to perform medical documentation accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients of all ages, particularly in pediatrics.
