PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES :
Perform all accounting requirements for assigned Programs. Accounting functions include : the maintenance of various accounting ledgers reflecting a variety of funds; the maintenance of controls and balances on a variety of accounting activities; and the preparation of fiscal statements and reports from various sources. Auditing functions include analyses of accounts, transactions, contracts; and testing of transactions for compliance with established laws, rules, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Participates in preparation of budgets and subsidiary reports. Works with the Program Directors to manage the budgets to offset any projected budget shortfalls.
- Prepare monthly / quarterly cost reimbursement reporting worksheets and drawdowns and submit reports according to the due dates set by the funding sources and / or Catholic Charities, Inc.
- Enter monthly accounts receivable invoices in accounting software (MIP) for revenue earned in a timely manner.
- Audit petty cash for assigned programs once a quarter.
- Perform a physical inventory for assigned programs annually and send report to Accounting Officer.
- Other accounting duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Work effectively with the Accounting Officer and Program Directors as appropriate.
- Work effectively with the auditors, funding sources, and monitors as necessary.
- Processes Payroll and benefits.
- Assist with deposit preparation as needed
- Reconcile all cash receipts to the bank statement.
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :
Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, 2-year's experience in non-profit accounting; or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 6-year's experience in non-profit accounting.Knowledge of non-profit financial reporting and analysis and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Knowledge of Word, Excel, and accounting database software, preferably MIPMust have excellent organizational skills.
