• PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Athenian School seeks a Carter Innovation Studio (CIS) Manager to oversee the daily operations, safety, and learning environment of the school’s premier makerspace and innovation hub.
• The CIS Manager ensures that students, faculty, and staff can safely and creatively engage with a wide range of tools, technologies, and materials to bring ideas to life.
• This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration that supports project-based learning across academic departments.
• Working closely with the Director of the CIS and other school partners, the Manager develops and implements training, certification, and safety procedures; maintains tools and equipment; and supports curricular and co-curricular projects that utilize the studio.
• The role includes teaching safe usage and digital fabrication skills, mentoring student users and interns, and collaborating on interdisciplinary initiatives such as March Term, Focus Fridays, and summer programs.
• Strong candidates will bring enthusiasm for experiential learning and a commitment to helping students develop as creative problem-solvers and responsible makers.
• CORE QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates will demonstrate cultural competency and the ability to build an inclusive and welcoming environment for a diverse community of learners.
• The position requires proficiency with fabrication tools, machinery, and digital design software, along with experience maintaining a safe and organized studio or lab environment.
• Experience in maker education, fabrication labs, or project-based learning environments is highly desirable.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, industrial design, architecture, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Candidates should have strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills and a passion for hands-on learning that connects creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation.

• We seek candidates who can start July 1, 2026 or sooner, and t he annual full time salary basis for this role will range from $ 75,000 - $95,000.
• Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center.  All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
