Summary
The San Diego office has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with 0-3 years of experience.Our client is an award-winning engineering firm that has been named "Best Place to Work" for the past 15 years.
Duties & Responsibilities
- PreDesign & Field Investigation
Conduct field surveys and review existing "as-built" drawings to assess system conditions and gather pertinent project information
Prepare site assessment reports and collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to define project scope.Design EngineeringDevelop schematic designs, single-line diagrams, and load schedules for electrical systems.
Perform technical calculations (e.g., arc flash, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using tools like ETAP, SKM, EnergyPro, or IES VE.Design power systems (normal emergency, renewable), lighting systems and controls, and lowvoltage infrastructure (fire alarm, security, voice / data, nurse call).Conduct lighting photometric studies, breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and medium-voltage equipment replacement design P2S.BIM / CAD CoordinationCreate and manage detailed AutoCAD and Revit MEP models and drawings, ensuring CAD / BIM standards compliance.
Collaborate across disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, structural, civil) to ensure design coordination.Construction & Commissioning SupportSupport construction administration by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, attending site meetings, and documenting punch walk reports.
Provide on-site construction assistance and engineering support, ensuring design intent is met .Participate in commissioning and quality assurance activities, including onsite testing and integration coordination .Energy & Sustainability EngineeringPerform energy modeling and calculations to comply with Title 24, ASHRAE, and achieve LEED or NetZero design targets .
Support sustainable design initiatives through energy optimization studies and lifecycle cost analysis.Project Coordination & Client EngagementCoordinate design schedules, deliverables, and technical updates across multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Act as a liaison during construction, ensuring client satisfaction and regulatory compliance.Occasionally support proposal development, cost estimating, and project scope definition.Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Field required0-3 years of experience with Electrical DesignAssociation with IEEE is a plusExperience with ETAP / SKM is a plusExperience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP preferredBenefits
