Responsibilities
Actively promote and lead plant safety culture and EHS effortsSupervise reports, complete employee evaluations and plan and arrange for development and training. Resolve employee problems and discipline issues independently or with consultation with Human ResourcesConsult daily with operations area personnel to discuss and define operational issues. Determine priorities for the area with regard to resourcesConsult daily with tech service and / or logistic personnel to discuss and define short term and long-term activitiesInterface with Business Group, R&D, Manufacturing, Process Technology and Client Logistics on customer service, quality, new product / project, and distribution issuesDevelop goals and objectives for the area and monitor progressManage area and unit specific annual budgets. Monitor cost activity and variancesPromote efforts to identify cost improvement ideas and work toward implementation of these ideasProvide coverage for the Operations Manager as needed. Cover Unit Supervisor responsibilities when requiredLead initiatives associated with EHS including but not limited to incident investigations and root cause analysis, housekeeping, and site safety meetingsLead initiatives involving quality, reduction of process variation and improvement of process capabilities in the Area. Monitor processes for deviation and monitor daily quality of productionAid in the resolution of any relevant Labor Relations issues with Union representativesDevelop and implement detailed plans for new product introduction with emphasis on First Time RightWork with Logistics and Maintenance in the planning of unit turnaroundsReview capital projects for safety and operability. Issue capital expenditure requests for minor capital projectCoordinate the use and implementation of site's Management of Change processRecruit and mentor plant tech service engineers and / or logistics personnelQualifications
BS degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree in technical field preferred7-10 years relevant work experience in chemical industry10+ years relevant work experienceEffective leadership skills and the ability to work productively in a cross functional team environmentInfluencing, negotiating and diplomacy skillsStrong analytical skillsAbility to effectively solve problems and resolve conflictsOrganizational skills and is able to prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines and work to deadlinesEffective oral and written communication skillsSkills, software knowledge and / or certifications specific to the industry / functionAbility to manage othersThe Bergaila Way :
