The Director of Data and Analytics leads a team of experts to develop and implement data strategies that drive business decisions. This role collaborates with business and IT leaders to deliver data solutions, oversee key analytics programs, and build scalable data infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing data engineering, governance, and integration while advancing data science capabilities to support business insights and growth.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Develop and lead a team of internal and external Architects, Engineers, and Analysts; Work with business leaders to understand their business needs, connect relevant data / analytics opportunities and deliver data products / processes to support those needs.
  • Collaborate with Business & IT teams to establish and communicate a clear Analytics and Data Strategy.
  • Develop and lead important strategic programs such as Job, Subcontractor & Customer analytics, Spend & Procurement Analytics, Financial Analytics.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to design, develop, test, implement and support solutions in data engineering and analytics.
  • Build business domain data modeling capabilities and create a cloud based Big Data environment that can harness financial, operational and machine data.
  • Maintain technical leadership, direction and oversight to build reliable and scalable data pipelines, data models and data visualizations.
  • Provide guidance focused on the development and evolution of our data engineering and analytics capabilities including data governance, data quality and data integration.
  • Continue the evolution of data science capabilities, allowing business teams to leverage data from multiple structured and unstructured sources to support the understanding and analysis of critical business questions.

    This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to :

  • Communicate effectively and take instructions.
  • Sit or stand at computer terminal or desk.
  • Have ability to walk, kneel, use of hands, climb stairs, have full range of motion, occasionally lift office products up to 20 lbs.
  • Be willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Work at a fast pace, while multi-tasking at times.
  • Travel up to 5-10% for company conferences, or training.

    NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, data science / analytics or similar fields and 10-15 years of overall experience working with data and information management tools.
  • 7-10 years' leading data and analytics teams required.
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Building relationships with business partners
  • Experience with enterprise data models.
  • Must have experience with modern data visualization tools; Qlik, Power BI, Tableau etc., Big Data environments; Azure Synapse, Snowflake etc., Cloud Data warehouses, ETL tools and practical experience creating such environments and delivering on business ROI.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing building blocks for Self-service reporting and driving a data-driven culture.
  • Experience in project management planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing staff, clients and / or partners.
  • Experience taking concepts and ideas and developing them into practical and actionable solutions; experience driving change within an organization.
  • Proven track record of managing customer-centric data driven solutions across a complex portfolio of stakeholders and fostering the development of high-performance teams.
  • Ability to present complex information concisely through written & verbal communication; experience hosting interviews, brainstorms / workshops with business teams and executives on data-related topics / projects.
