Lift Station Manager

As a Lift Station Manager, you'll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. Based in Pembroke Pines, FL, you'll have the opportunity to lead a team of Lift Station Operators to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of lift stations throughout the City. You'll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities.

This classification involves supervising mechanical maintenance work of wastewater pump station equipment for the City. An employee in this position strives toward meeting the main goals of keeping sewage from overflowing and reducing the risks associated with spills and overflows; schedules, coordinates, supervises, and participates in installing, maintaining, and repairing pumps, motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment used in wastewater pump station operations; instructs employees in proper use of tools and safety measures; monitors work of private contractors in compliance with agreements; maintains related inventory; and orders needed items. This position also addresses customer complaints, deals with crisis situations, and maintains related records.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare pre-task plan and conduct all hazards analysis to ensure the safety of the team in the execution of daily tasks
  • Plans, directs, trains and supervises new and existing personnel at work sites; provides instruction with more difficult trades; carries out assigned tasks through utilization of materials and assigned personnel.
  • Responds to, generates and closes out work orders; conducts onsite inspections; ensures compliance with safety standards, permitting and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Ability to participate in weekly rotating "after hours" call out duty that requires prompt response on a 24-hour basis including weekends and holidays.
  • Schedules, coordinates, supervises, and participates in inspections, maintenance, modification, and repair of pumping equipment, gravity sewer pipe, pumps, motors, generators, valves, odor control devices, and other equipment used in wastewater pump stations and collection systems.
  • Participates in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs for pump station equipment; develops employee work schedules and makes assignments; and establishes repair priorities to ensure prompt attention to priority requests.
  • Reviews work performed by assigned employees while in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance to instructions given and quality workmanship.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems of a highly complex nature; instructs / trains staff in proper use of tools and repair methods / techniques; promotes safety among personnel; prepares and maintains reports and records of equipment services; and makes sure that adequate tools and equipment are available for proper and timely performance of assigned work.
  • Monitors work performed on pump station equipment by outside contractors to ascertain contract / agreement compliance.
  • Supervises employees including : employee selection; recommending needed employee disciplinary actions, salary increases, and transfers; training; promotions; timecards; and performance evaluations,
  • Administers related customer relations; addresses complaints and / or work problems.
  • Enters and updates data.
  • Orders items for inventory; processes purchase orders; and prepares documentation for Maintenance and Repair budget expenditure authorization.
  • Deals with crisis situations.
  • Performs related work as required.

Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.

Here's what you'll need

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • FWPCOA Class C Collections License or ability to obtain within one (1) year
  • Florida Driver's License with no major infractions
  • Experience in maintenance of collections systems and lift stations
  • Experience leading construction or maintenance crews
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for stated requirements.
  • Ideally, You'll Also Have :
  • Possess, or be able to obtain a FWPCOA Class A Collections License
  • Possess, or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Working Conditions & Physical Requirements :

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

    The base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
